Dieting Tip - Monday

TIP OF THE DAY: You probably already know that you can lose weight without exercise, but you have probably already seen the weight come back. Cutting 250 calories from your daily diet can help you lose a half pound per week since 3,500 calories equals one pound of fat. But if you add a 30 minute workout most days of the week you could DOUBLE your weight loss rate. Exercising during weight loss is primarily for burning calories, although there are many other benefits as well. The number of calories you burn depends upon your intensity, duration and frequency of workouts. When you are beginning a fitness plan, you should start with lower intensity, longer duration workouts. As you get fit, you can shift towards a shorter, higher-intensity workout.Strength training exercises are also very important. Calories are burned in muscles, so the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn, even at rest. Muscle mass is important because it helps counteract the muscle loss experienced during the aging process.
